ArtFutura: Art in Motion is a fundraiser and juried art exhibition
that brings the art community and philanthropy community of
Chicago together to support the cause of Art Therapy. James
Rondeau, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, The Art Institute
of Chicago, selects exhibition participants and awards the
most outstanding works submitted by hundreds of artists from
around the country. Printed invitations are sent to all RIC
board members and employees, gallery art buyers, and friends
of RIC for the Gallery Opening Night & Awards Party. The general
public can purchase tickets to the opening night and the exhibition
is open to the public for seven days. All the professional
& patient artwork is for sale with half the proceeds benefiting
the RIC Art Therapy program.
With the generous support of ArtFutura donors, RIC's Therapeutic
Recreation team implemented the following in 2011:
- Resident Art Therapist on site 24 hours-a-week
- More than 100 patients received individual art therapy
treatment
- Over 700 hours of art therapy services were provided,
to both individuals and groups of patients

The 14th Annual Bearcat Ball
October 13th, 2012, 7:00 PM
Chicago Cultural Center, Yates Gallery
The Associate Board invites Chicago's young
professionals to the Chicago Cultural Center for an exciting
formal event with food and cocktails, entertainment, presentation
of the Tree of Life Award, and raising more than $100,000
for RIC's Pediatric Charity Care program.
About the Bearcat Ball
The Associate Board hosts the annual Bearcat Ball to benefit
the Rehabilitation Institute's Pediatric Charity Care Program,
which offers prosthetic devices and specialized treatment
to children with disabilities whose families cannot afford
this care. In 2011, the Bearcat Ball supported the following:
- Helped children receive care that their families could
not otherwise afford. Last year 390 children received a
total of $667,000 in charity care at RIC.
- Help RIC meet increasing Charity Care needs due to rising
unemployment and the weakened economy. Even in 2005, before
the current recession, a record 47 million people, or 16%
of the population, did not have health insurance. Each year
RIC provides more than $2 million to Charity Care patients.
- Support our goal of reaching more pediatric and adolescent
lives through pediatric inpatient/outpatient care regardless
of financial situation.
